Most folks are outwardly friendly and very welcoming to newcomers like me. Five years ago, when I moved from California to Park City, I enjoyed the fact that people wave to you as they walk or drive by. This sense of community is heightened by the fact that many small-town residents know one another, often from participating in supporting their favorite nonprofit organizations. One example of this is being invited into the living room of a neighbor and discussing open space preservation. We had great input from all, and you get to know 20 of your neighbors really quickly.
